Idlewild and Unexpected beauty

David and I went to Idlewild water park with Cathy,Candace and the kids. David went and swam while I walked around and took photos.

Idlewild is a Amusement Park/ Waterslide park in Ligonier, PA


The Storybook Forest is perfect for little ones and the young at heart.

Hayden is such a ham!

David and I saw some beautiful sunflowers on the way back at this farm,

I’ve been going to see a chiropractor for my knee and his office is surrounded with wild flowers.

Week long birthday celebration

Phil laughs at me because I love birthdays, and I make the most out of them that I can.
My birthday was August 23rd but I started celebrating last week.
Debra took me to Applebee’s for lunch and I got a huge Mudslide for desert!


Sue and I went to Point Marion to Apple Annie’s for lunch.

They have the BEST homemade deserts.
Sue is another inspector’s wife, that I just met. She is into photography, and birds and get this…the Holocaust, just like me…crazy, huh?
She is also beautiful, funny, smart and has the most caring heart.

So I have a new running buddy!
Sunday we went to dinner  at Outback with Debra and Al.

Debra gave me a beautiful necklace and earring set.

Tuesday, the day of my birthday. I went to a surprise birthday party for another inspector’s wife, Ethel, whose birthday is the same day as mine.
Martha, Paula and Sue had got us both a cake and a cookie and had fixed us a wonderful spaghetti  lunch.

Later that evening we had cake and ice cream with the Pierces, the Washingtons, and Steve.Young


So I had a terrific, wonderful birthday surrounded by many friends and my loving husband and my sweet son.

A Cemetery Tour

I love cemeteries and taking photos of unusual gravestones.
Debra and I went to Somerset and looked at a couple of cemeteries and then a couple in Hopwood.









On May 31, 1889, a neglected dam and a phenomenal storm led to a catastrophe in which 2,209 people died.
This is a grave from a young man who died in that flood.


We went to the Jewish Cemetery  and the Founding Fathers Cemetery in Hopwood. I had tears in my eyes from this tombstone…so sad!







On a happier note, we bought an old fashioned ice cream maker, with the crank and made ice cream with the gang.

I loved watching the little ones turning the crank!
